Story Maker: an illustrated book of knitting, fibre & fable is a short illustrated novel with 12 original knitting patterns inspired by the story. See the full Story Maker collection here.

The Marshal’s Hood is a deep cozy hood with a doubled brim and attached dickie.

Construction: The front of the hood, framing the face, is worked in the round and folded double for a finished edge. After this point the hood is worked flat to the back of the head and closed with a three-needle bind-off. Stitches are then picked up around the neck opening of the hood to form the shoulders. These stitches are then divided and worked flat for both the front and back of the dickie.

Yarn: Aran Weight Story Made Yarns "The Hidden Valley Flock"

One Size: Hood is 14” (35.5 cm) long and 11” (27.9 cm) deep. Dickie is 14 1/2” (36.8 cm) wide and 8” (20.3 cm) long.

Needles: US Size 8/5 mm and US Size 7/4.5 mm 20” (50 cm) circular needle, or size necessary to obtain gauge.

Notions: Stitch markers, extra straight needle in larger size, tapestry needle.

Gauge: 16 stitches and 22 rows = 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch on larger needles.
