The Romney sheep is an English longwool breed dating from the Middle Ages. They are a dual purpose breed for wool and meat, and their fleece is beloved by spinners for its ease of spinning, crimp and lustre.
Our grey roving is grown by Ombré our "fancy" black and white wether. We wash the wool by hand and send it to the local mill (less than 10 km away) to be processed into pin-drafted rovings. During the processing Ombré's wool is blended so well that the roving is uniformly grey, however, you can see his fully range of fleece variation in his washed wool, also available for purchase. We love the roving preparation for easy spinning and needle felting.
